I'm not sure exactly what the statement means, but I understand the feeling because there is a hospital here in west Tennessee ( Henry County Medical Center) that has white, black, Asian and other. Guess which one my husband are classified as! When we asked about this, they said that their computers didn't have the ability to handle Alaskan/Native American Indian. Go figure.
Those who are haters globalize their hatred to include everyone within a single group.
It means if you're different from me in culture, religion, etc., you are deemed 'Other' and if you're 'Other,' then you become 'less than.' If you're 'less than,' then you become a target of my disdain. This thinking by the way, crosses ALL GROUPS.
In simpler terms: If you're not just like me, then you must be the enemy.
For instance Adolf Hitler was said to have hatred for non GERMANS !?! & I guess every other group or race of people to him was'nt as "PURE" !?! It was truthfully it racist views !! & he tried to get many others see things in the light in`which he saw things !?! "BLINDED IF YOU ASK ME"~! "R"r`r.r,r'.
You could re-word it like this:
What is hate? It's feeling other people are so different from us we can't possibly understand them and we feel a bit afraid. That's what a hate-monger does--says things that make people see the world as "us" and "them." On the other hand, if we could feel members of other groups are exactly like we are, and we're exactly like they are, we couldn't possibly hate them or be afraid of them. But no, they're "those other people." Logically, then (we think it's logical), since we're good they must be bad.
