Where did the phrase "the greatest thing since sliced bread" come from and what is so great about sliced bread

Question:?

Answers:
Sliced bread was invented by a baker about 100 years ago. Before that the bread was just sold in a loaf and the people had to cut off pieces with a knife. Obviously this took time and the pieces were of different sizes. When a machine to slice bread at the baker was invented sales of bread went up a lot at that bakery. So people say, "It's the best thing.to be invented...since sliced bread." Meaning this is so wonderful.
What is so good about sliced bread: convenient, same size each slice.
see back in the day they use to have loafs of bread that they had to tear with their hands and while it wasn't that bad but the sandwiches never came out right and a lot of bread was wasted trying to tear it open just right. And than one day while a man was chasing his wife with a sword and he slip and fell cutting the bread in front of him in half. the two reconciled because now he could finally eat a decent sandwich. slices revolutionized the world. sliced bread is very useful imagine having to make sandwiches without slices. so there we go.
