What does this quote mean?

Question:"Man [has] always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much-the wheel, New York, wars and so on-while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man-for precisely the same reason."

Answers:
It means we all measure "success" differently. For some it's about having the most material possessions. For others it might be measured by kindness to others, etc. The point is we all look at life and and our priorities differently, based on how we were brought up and our environment.
Reading Douglas Adams, are you? It means that man thinks he's intelligent b/c he made all that stuff, while the dolphins think they're smarter because they figured out that it's better to just muck about in the water, rather than create all that stuff.
It means that while we are extremely intelligent, our intelligence is a double edge sword. We have created things most would never dream of, yet we are also capable of doing things of such stupidity because of our intelligence.
