I always liked this poem I learned in elementary school. We sang it in choir. It's called The Fog, by Carl Sandburg. It's so short and simple, but very descripive and vivid. ( I can just picture it in my head)
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
kingfishers catch fire, dragonflys flash flame, by gerard manly hopkins.
we were ALL put here on earth to do something, and we are happiest when we find that. I love how he writes about nature, a dragonfly does its thing, it exists, it simply is...i LOVE that!!
my favorite poem goes like this:
Inside Of Me
If you could see inside my soul
see inside my heart
you would know how I long for you
whenever we're apart
If you could see inside my head
if thoughts were things to see
you would know how I cherish you
how much you mean to me
In all the ways you comfort me
the way you hold me near
the way you know just what to do
to chase away my fear
The sparkle in your beautiful eyes
your smile, laugh, your touch
are just a few of many reasons
I love you oh so much
Knowing I can talk to you
about any and everything
and knowing together we will get
through whatever life may bring
I could search the whole world over
and this I know is true
I would never find another love
like the love I found with you
Though with each new day, each sunrise
we can't know what's in store
there is one thing I know for sure
each day I love you more
So if you could see inside my head
if thoughts were things to see
you would know I blessed I feel
to have you here with me
"Hysteria" TS Eliot. I don't know if I can relate to it but it is weird.
Who are we but strolling players
Wandering 'round the long ago
Joys and sadness, hopes and longings
keep up traveling onward though.
The laughter and applause of others
Who view the passing cavalcade
Leave echos hovering some far summer
Floating 'round a woodland glade.
Twas but a tale for your amusement
Like my small unworthy rhyme
Gone, alas, into those realms
The land of once upon a time.
Prolouge to Marlfox by Brain Jaques
'Hope is a thing with feathers' by Emily Dickenson.
Another is 'Sea Fever' By John Masefield. It always cheers me up.
Fire and Ice by Robert Frost
Some say the world will end in fire,
Others say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if I had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
is also great
and would suffice.
