How do you interpret this quote from Charles Darwin?

Question:"At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate, and replace the savage races throughout the world"- Charles Darwin

Any reference to existing race or religion will be wrong of course! ; ' ) (wink).

Answers:
When Darwin postulated this theory, survival of the fittest was still the most likely progression in our development. Now that we have Medicare, and welfare and a variety of apologists for obesity and the like, the fittest are side by side with those who would not have survived 100 years ago.

He was certain that the healthier stronger would reproduce and replace the weaker.

Oops, wrong again!
To me it means that " very soon we will evolve enough to overcome all our weaknesses"
Well, according to Darwin there were inferior things and superior things. Essentially, if they couldn't handle the heat then they were thrown out of the kitchen.

Certain ancient races still exist on this planet. Bushmen, Pygmies, Aborigonese, et cetera. They can't compete with us and so they will eventually be snuffed out. The strong will destroy the weak for the betterment of advancement.
I think he's referring to races feared or misunderstood by whites back then - which were all races other than Caucasian, divide and conquer. We've seen it throughout history. .the Indians weren't bothering anybody, but whites thought they were savages because they were different . same with blacks in African brought here to be slaves because we too, of course were savages. . then you have the Hispanic slave trade. .so that's my interpretation.
Inevitably, civilized beings will prevail in the battle of ignorace
The guy with the best weapons and the will to use them will wipe-out those that can't stop them.
Sometime in the near future, people with morals and civilized views will no longer exist. The world is filled with ignorance that will undoubtedly take over.- That's how I would rephrase it.
