Well, my dad had or has it. He failed 1st grade because of it.
I don't really have an *opinion* on it. My dad suffered from it, and he's still a loving person. I think he might've outgrown it, if that's possible. I feel sorry for the people that do suffer for it, as it makes life all the more difficult for them, especially in school.
I find as a teacher this is one of the most difficult disabilities for students to overcome. Students suffering with this require a lot more than a regular education student in and out of the classroom environment. It is so frustrating for the student that at times it can break your heart.
There are now proven methods to help the younger student to be successful as they go through the upper grades. If students don't receive help and support while they are still young, most don't make it in high school!
I don't really think you can have an opinion on a condition. It's like having an opinion on cancer. I think that with appropriate treatment and arrangements, people with dyslexia can be just as successful as anyone else. Does that answer the question ? :-)
Dyslexia makes learning more difficult, but people with it can find ways to compensate and learn.
Jay Leno, who graduated college, has said he has dyslexia. The world is full of people who have gotten good educations with dyslexia.
Maybe the most important thing for anyone is to first understand that dyslexia is what s/he has. Then its possible to work around it or with it.
