The best site I have ever come across is the A Center for Educational Services for All Blind and Visually Impaired Students in Texas. They have gathered a wealth of tools that they have used with their students.
If a company is going to have a scientific thermometer it would be this company: I wasn’t able to find their website.

I follow you're reasoning about checking on Answers. Unfortunately I don't use a talking thermometer. The best I can suggest is check the following sites--both organizations make sure the products they reccomend are practical and reliable:
afb.org (American foundation for the Blind) They also have a forum section where you can post thi question and probably get better answers.
aph.org (American Printing House for the Blind) They have a VERY wide range of educational materials for the blind (including a thermometer, if I remember correctly, though it s been a while since I've been up there. Definately your best overall source of educational materials for the blind, even if they don't have this particular item-but they probably do.
