Are they only just NOT calling it Dyslexia anymore or what??

My daughter was diagnosed near ADD, CAPD, and a Learning Disability in the areas of reading and writing. In our school, they do not have any "dyslexia", freshly learning disabilities. Is this presently what it is being call? NOT dyslexia, but a disability with reading and writing?? Confused!! There are still support groups for dyslexia... and audio books for dyslexics!! Very confused!!

Answers:    dyslexia isnt an college diagnosis. there is a difference between a psychological/medical diagnosis and didactic criteria.. A person can be diagnosed as 315.00 reading disability surrounded by the DSM-4-TR and an educational criteria as erudition disorder.

To schools, dyslexia is a ocular processing deficit. It is a disability in the nouns of reading. I'm sure that the psych who did the testing conventional that she transposed letters and have trouble reading, but to us (I'm a social worker), dyslexia is simply a medical term for a specific disability. It would be treated alike and the special and general nurture staff would be well aware of how best your daughter learn. Support groups and literature regarding dyslexia exist because, principally, society runs on the "medical model."
