I'm going to an IB school this year?

Question:have you heard of the International Baccalaureate program? what have you heard about it?

Answers:
I am in it...
Pros- looks good on application for colleges, prepares you with the extra work for secondary schooling ...
Cons- extra work obviously, Extended Essay, Group 4, CAS hours, TOK, IB tests.

But overall~~~ I would recommend it if studies are more important to you than sports. Friends that I have that are in both can sometimes get really stressed, especially with rigorous sports that have long practices like swimming.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail =)
I actually was hired at a prep school to institute an IB program. It is the future.

Right now everyone is talking about state standards, soon it will be national standards, but guess what: there's the IB program just waiting to be let in and it has "International Standards", so chances are it will be the standard in the next 10 years or so.

If you are planning an academic career, then you should do the IB route. If you just want to get out of college in 4, and maybe get an MBA, then take it easier academically and focus on getting appropriate experience and exposure to the business world.
The IB, from my view, is the best educational program ever!... Not only because it promotes well-rounded individuals with the Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) course, but because it provides very useful knowledge that you will surely use in college.

You have six groups of subjects (Language A1, Language A2/B/AB, Individuals and Societies, Experimental Sciences, Mathematics and Computer science, Arts) from which you have to choose one subject . (Note: you can substitute the Arts group with another subject of groups 1-5)

Furthermore, the subjects you choose should be at HL or SL. You should choose 3 of each.

Language A1 is you native language, it actually a literature course (Ex. English A1 HL, English A1 SL, etc)

Language A2/B/AB are languages that are not native. A2 is a combination of literature and cultural awareness, B is for beginners and AB is for absolute beginners. (Ex. French A2 HL, Italian B SL, Spanish AB Initio SL, etc)

Individuals and Societies (Ex. History HL, Economics HL, Psychology SL, ITGS, SL, Social Anthropology HL, etc)

Experimental Sciences (Ex. Chemistry HL, Physics SL, Biology HL etc)

Mathematics and CS (Math. Studies SL, Mathematics SL, Mathematics HL, Further Mathematics SL, Computer Science SL, Computer Science HL... these are all the subjects in this group.. you CANNOT avoid to take a Math Course)

Arts (Ex. Visual Arts HL, Music SL, Film HL, etc)
