I would also appreciate any tips on critical reading section or any other advice regarding the test.
Answers:
Negative marking on the test? It is not possible to have a negative mark. You automatically get 200 points for filling out your name correctly. As for questions, it is better to answer one if you can eliminate at least two choices. If not, skip the question. You get points deducted for getting a question wrong. However, you do not get a penalty for skipping a question.
Some advice: You should get yourself familiar with the directions on each section of the test. That way, you don't have to waste time reading the instructions while you are taking the test. (Time is very limited and valuable!) You can just dive straight into answering the questions. Also, for the essay, if you can... spend about 5 minutes brainstorming about what you are going to write, another 5 minutes with a rough draft and the rest of the time writing your final. (Though I always skip the rough draft and go straight from brainstorm to final ^_^;) I believe you get 25 minutes total.
Anyway, good luck!
Well in the sat you get points subtracted for a wrong answer but if u can eliminate 2 choices it is better to guess. I think you should go to collegeboard.com and learn more about the sat
if you don't know an answer, just guess. it doesn't go against you.
the critical reading section is really difficult. you should study for that section more.
When I first took the SAT, my score was low in the mid 1700s but then I got the sat guide from TutorFox: http://www.tutorfox.com/satguide.html... and my score went up to 2190 (800 math, 760 writing, 630 reading). I highly recommend this guide for anyone wishing to get a higher SAT score.
you get .25 pts deducted from your raw score for every wrong answer, so if you can't eliminate any of the choices, don't guess, but if you can get it down to 2 or 3 choices, just guess. also, use a dull pencil that'll give greater surface area and much less time needed to fill the bubbles.
