Grade Point Average?

Question:Just curious - I have been out of school for almost (gosh, I'm going to show my age) 20 years. My GPA is not 2.0 ("C" average) - since I have been out of school a very long time - is there any way now that I can increase it?

Answers:
You don't say if you are a High School graduate or not. i will assume for the sake of this answer that you are. I had a similar problem when I graduated from high school twice as many years ago as you. My grades were horrendous. I applied at a junior college (community college) and began with the minimum course load. I wanted to see if I was as bad as my grades indicated. I was open and honest with everyone about my high school experience. When I went back, I had been out of high school for 14 years. To my amazement I was able to graduate with an associate degree in business with a 3.91 GPA. Armed with that I continued to a university and got a B/S, then an MBA then a MST and a Cags. My point is, if you want to correct a past GPA, correct it with a new level GPA. Usually, employment and background checks will not go beyond the current completed academic record in a reference check. By the way, My associate degree GPA (3.91) turned out to be my lowest GPA in higher education. As a teaching professor at a community college I was always sympathetic to older students looking to better themselves and correct past mistakes. You can teach an old dog new tricks.
Well, you cant change the past, I guess that goes for past grades too. What are you trying to do that requires a higher GPA? You might be able to take some sort of placement test that will determine your level in whatever subject you are planning to take (if you are indeed enrolling in college.) Also, I think that in those cases, your past GPA really doesn't matter anymore. I would suggest taking college level classes, getting As, and that should increase your GPA.
...Your high school GPA was 2.0? You can't change your GPA once you get the degree and finish classes.

Every time you start on a new degree or at a new school you start accumulating a new GPA.
