Do AP test automatically obtain sent to colleges?

Do AP tests obtain automatically sent to colleges/are seen by colleges similar to the SAT or can you chose to send it/show it close to the ACT? Because I was thinking roughly speaking taking another AP test by myself studying through an AP guide book (princeton review and cliffs)instead of a arts school class because I cant take anymore AP classes.

Answers:    As it be explained to me, it is similar in distribution method to the ACT. (You select the college which you would like it sent to on the testing day.) Here's the confirmation:
Exam Grades
AP Grade Reports are sent contained by July to the college you designated on your answer sheet, to you, and to your high arts school. Each report is cumulative and includes grades for all the AP Exams you enjoy ever taken, unless you have requested that one or more grades be withheld from a college or canceled. Visit AP Grade Reporting Services.

Most AP Grade Reports are sent by mid-July. Some reports give somebody a lift longer to process because of problems with permit information or the late arrival of materials from the conducting tests location. Contact AP Services if you have not received a category report by September 1.

Sub-scores are not available (except for Calculus BC and Music Theory) nor are scores analyzed to determine strengths and weakness.
They are not automatically sent to colleges. You have to give the name AP Services to have them sent somewhere and you can conceal any of your score from colleges from an additional excise.
