How can I improve my Critical Reading on the SATs?

Question:I score in the 600's on the Writing section, but when it comes to critical reading, I have trouble, especially the SENTENCE COMPLETIONS.

I have done many practice problems for completing sentences and almost 100% of the time, I get it wrong!! It's so frustrating!

I don't know what I can do at this point since I am going to be retaking the SAT I THIS October and then I got college applications due.

I was thinking maybe I should just skip the whole sentence completion section since it's 19 questions because I usually get them wrong anyways, causing me to loose a couple points. Is this a good idea? or should I just go ahead and guess?

Answers:
There are two things you can do that I did.

First, use this free web site to help build your vocabulary:

http://www.sat-preparation.co.il/...

This has a lot of vocabulary quizzes and will really help you build your vocabulary.

Second, stay positive! You will do just fine. The key to sentence completions is knowing the vocabulary. Try to focus on reading the sentence to yourself.

Good luck!
What really helped me was the tutorfox new sat guide along with the princeton review practice tests. When I first took the SAT, my score was low in the mid 1700s but then I got the sat guide from TutorFox: http://www.tutorfox.com/satguide.html... and my score went up to 2190 (800 math, 760 writing, 630 reading). I highly recommend this guide for anyone wishing to get a higher SAT score.
