a gcse is a gcse, and theres more too it than being able to play an instrument, take it from me...(i study music at gcse level, and play trumpet and piano to grade 6 standard)

but, when you reach grade 6, 7, and 8 (practical and theory)they count as UCAS points, (like you get so many points for a pass, merit or distinction, they get higher each grade you go up)

if you dont nkow UCAS points are recognised by universities, for example an A grade at A-level is worth so many UCAS points etc...

the grades in themselves don't count as gcse qualifications, but for the music gcse performance module they suggest grade five as the maximum standard of piece required to gain full marks which would suggest that the grade equivalent to a music gcse would be five at the most.
