should I purposely bomb some of the questions?
Answers:
no no no.. if you get all the problems right, thats great.. I dont think you HAVE to be placed in advanced math.. I did good enough on my English placement test to go to an honors class, that doesn't mean I have to take that class.. You wont have to take honors or anything you dont feel comfortable taking.. thats the good thing about college.. YOU DECIDE YOUR CLASSES.. tell your counselor what you feel comfortable doing.. simple as that.. But do well on your test.. I would recommend when they tell you what you qualify for, what math class, i would go to the one right below that.. just so you aren't too overwhelmed, and there might be a few things you forgot that you can brush up on..
I suspect that if you are doing well now, you'll do fine in advanced math. Not working harder on math when I was younger is one of my biggest regrets 15 years on. If I had, perhaps I could have realized my dream to be an astronomer, or a physicist. It's easier to struggle now, than to try to catch up later. But do what you think is right. That's the real answer.
Do you're best. If you bomb out you might do too bad and be asked to go into a lower then average class. And even if you get into the average class you'll be bored (the class will be a waste of time). If you do better it only sets you up to be better---why be average when you;re better then that?!
first of all, how do you know all the answers?
well personally i would just answer all of them right. at my school they told me that i placed into an honors course but i could choose if i wanted to be in honors or the regular level. so idk how your school works but obivously if you know all the answers, and the test isn't too hard for you, then the class won't be too hard.
If you take advanced placement math in high school, you might be able to test out of some math courses in college. It could be very useful.
Listen to ebmid2. Think about your future and not right now. Trust me, I got out of certain classes in high school & it was great! THEN. Now that I have to go to College and do it again...years and years later. It sucks. Don't do that to yourself. Good Luck on your test! :)
