My daughter is considering applying to USA universities to study for a degree (possibly English)?

Question:How would an American degree stand up in the UK market place? Does it have the same standing? Are they of an equivalent , It would be a waste if she went to the US and came back with a degree not recognised here. Any help appreciated - Thanks

Answers:
i don't know, but the best people to ask is the uni themselves. have you tried the idea of her going to a uk uni and then seeing if she can transfer for her second year to an american uni for a year, she still gets her uk certificate and gets to study in america.
I have had two American Social Workers One needs to gain a qualification in UK Social Work, but is accepted already by his employers and the 2nd has a Masters in Social Work.I can't say much more ,sorry other than I suspect they both worked very hard and the 2nd is from NW and endured a lot of cold.
There are over 4,000 registered universities in the US. Most of which can't compare with UK universities. Unless she studies at an Ivy League university (one of the top 20), I think she'd do better to consider even one of the lesser known UK universities instead, especially if she's looking to pursue a degree in English.
Hope this helps.
UK and US degrees are accepted worldwide. you can find more info for studying in usa at international students talk forum http://www.myf1forum.com
