GPA stands for Grade Point Average. It usually is between 0.0 and 4.0 (in the US).

Simply put, it is a way of figuring out what your 'average' grade is throughout your school career.

If you get mostly C's, then your GPA will be around a 2.0; if it is mostly B's, then 3.0. If you get ALL A's, then it is a perfect 4.0.

You can get a mix of grades and get numbers such as 2.4, 3.9, etc. Generally a GPA between a 3.0 and 4.0 is considered to be good, because it means that you have gotten mostly A's or B's.
It stands for Grade Point Average. The usual scale is 4 points for an A, 3 for a B, 2 for a C, 1 for just barely passing, and no points for failing.

English A (4)
Math C (2)
Social Studies B (3)
Science B (3)

Add it all up: 12
Divide 12 by 4 classes, and you get a GPA of 3.0
Grade Point Average. <}:-})
a=4
b-3
c=2
d=1
f=0
If you had an a, d b,b, and an a you would take their point values add them together 9in this case 15) divide by 5 (total grades given0 for a 3.0 which gives you a grade point average of b
Everyone else said it. Grade Point Average.
When I went to school it was an A B C D E or F.
A being the highest and F being failing.
It directly means, Your Grade, Point of Average.
mathematical formula

4.0 is an A
3.0 is a B
2.0 is a C
1.0 is a D

you mulitply them by the course hours of the class

a English 101 course might be a 3 hour course . a person that earned an A would have 12 hours. 4.0 x 3 = 12
if you had only taken one course you would divide the number of hours you had attempted 3 by 12 and it equals 4.0 . that is your GPA.

Some schools have slightly different systems some meausre high and low grades . the plus and minus have a weighted number. GPA is calculated my a mathemetical formula.
