Is a 3 year undergraduate degree recognised in Canada and USA ??

Question:I'm pursuing my B.Comm. which is a 3 year degree programme. somebody told me that a 3 year degree programme is not recognised if i wanted to pursue my postgraduation abroad as the standard degree programme in US and Canada are for 4 years, and that the colleges abroad require you to do one year extra study to formally recognise that you are a graduate according to college rules. Will somebody clear the air about this and tell me if its true or not ??

Answers:
IT IS RECOGNISED IN USA AND CANADA
I'm not sure about Canada since I live in the U.S., but unfortunately at the university that I work at, we do not view 3-year undergraduate degrees as being equivalent to 4-year undergraduate degrees. Sometimes we accept 3-year honours degrees as being equivalent.

Although we may not view a 3-year degree as being equivalent to a 4-year baccalaureate degree, students with 3-year degrees can possibly take another year of coursework at the university to be at the same level as a 4-year student. You could work with an academic adviser to determine which coursework would be appropriate for you to take to be admitted to a graduate program.

Best wishes!
There r many factors which r taken in2 consideration. Mainly:-
1) Which place did u study @? Was it a proper Uni recognised by the Govt. of India?
2) Which Post Grad course do u want 2 pursue? For eg. 4 an MBA depending on the institute u might need 2 clear GMAT as well as show @least 2 yrs managerial experience.
3) Wat was ur agregate score?
4) Ur mode of study? English or regional language?

These r the main factors. dude I've just been accepted 4 a high class International Management course in a UK Uni n I've just done BA. Don't worry just start applyin early n start ur research rite now. Best of Luck.
yes its true. u hv to pursue a PG diploma after ur grads to get ur path cleared to go to US
This really depends on the university and its admissions policies. Some universities may allow you to apply with a 3-year undergraduate degree; however, most will require the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree which consists of 4 years of education. In most cases, you will be given some options you can explore:

1. You could get a master's degree in your country and this will count as the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree

2. You could do your "senior year" or fourth year at the US college where you plan to go for your graduate degree. Some programs may admit you into a graduate program where you can take undergraduate and graduate courses at the same time.

3. If you have IB, A-levels or top SAT I and SAT II scores, some universities may be willing to waive your 4th year of college.

Contact the universities where you wish to apply and see what your options are.

Good luck!
3 year undergrad is equivalent to associate degree in the US. Here in US there is a credit point system so if u get your degree evaluated by firms like AACRAO, WES they will do the foreign credential evaluation and find out how many credit points can be transferred and what extra courses you should take for fulfilling the remaining credit hours required for further education.
Hope that helps

Did you send me a mail..if yes then message sending failed.
Either you study an additional year before going to the U.S./Canada or take an additional year in the U.S./Canada before applying for the Post Grad. program.
I just dont understand why you should go to USA at all.In India the commerce,Economics and MBA courses are very good.First you get through all of them.Go to america only for post doctral degrees. For science and engineering students conditions are different. In america they have more research facilities and scholorships which helps for higher srudies.
Also the technical standards are high and
there is really something to learn and new.
