About how long does it take to get my student UK visa after ive applied for it online?

Question:im studying in the uk in london in about 2 years and it says i do need a visa and ive looked into it but how much time before i start college should i apply for it so i get it before i go study there? i was thinking a year before? maybe? i dont know? does anyone know?
