Student visa appeal process?

Question:Hi,

I am in Vietnam and my F-1 visa was denied. I have more supporting documents and would like to know whats the process for appeal. How long should I wait? Do I just re-schedule an appointment and go through the interview process like the first time? I know I have to pay for the appointment fee again, how about the SEVIS fee? Is there anything I should be aware of?

Thanks!

Answers:
If you are denied a visa, you will be informed of the reason for the denial within 60 days and be given the opportunity to re-apply if you can provide additional evidence to support your case. Before you re-apply, be sure you understand the grounds for your denial so that you can appeal effectively. The SEVIS fee will not be refunded, but if you apply again for an F-1 visa within 12 months of a visa denial you will not have to pay the fee again.
