Well I don't know it will help you or not, but it really helped me.
What I do is to write the notes from the class and literary memorize the entire notes I wrote ( I can recite the entire notes from my mouth),then read and study the text book according to what the test is going to be about. It takes me about 3 hours on each subjects to memorize the notes (depend on what subject it is, it may be shorter or longer). It is tedious and rather dull, but I always receive 96-100 on test. You'll probably think it is impossible but is not. Just study, concentrate, and don't give up.
Oh! and eliminate any distraction while you study like sounds, pets, and etc.
P/S: If you have two or three days to study; study early as you possibly can and don't waste any more precious time.
If you have teachers who announce the test and you have only one day to study (my history and english teacher...) and have three or more subjects to study; drink any caffeine contained beverage (coffee, coke, pepsi, etc) and start studying. Hell, one time I had four subjects to study in one day and took me until 2:00 a.m to finish study them all... It was still worth it to get A+ on all four subjects tests.
Flash cards always worked for me.
If it's math, practice, practice, re-do problem sets assigned in HW.
1 to 2 hours it helps trust me.
Well, the best answer is study study and study some more.
To help try flash cards.
Good Luck
Knowledge is no short cut. Result of testing is only a marks doesn't mean you will have a good time for job. Take it easy.
First- DON'T OVER STUDY!!
You have to find out the right way to study for YOU because everyone learns in different ways. You can writer a song about it, try to memorize the facts, reread the section in the book or your notes, have someone quiz you, create flashcards, write down all of the facts, create little tricks to learn something (for example, shopping in Japanese is kaimono because they go for kimono), etc.
Don't just cram the night before or the morning over, study over time.
Sleep for at least 8 hours the night before the test, and have breakfast. If memorizing, it's best to memorize before you go to sleep.
I always just payed attention to what the teacher was saying to us.I took a few notes.Listen to what the teacher has to say and you will do fine.
