Go to the Jordanian embassy that's closest to you. Apply for a visa there. They probably have a website that gives you more info. I'm assuming you're not a Jordanian citizen with a Jordanian passport.
Typically, you don't need a visa if you're just going for vacation to CERTAIN COUNTRIES ON A LIST. I don't think Jordan is on that list. In any case, when going to study, you normally need a student visa.
And passports can take a very long time to get.
No, you just need a passport, and it takes 4 weeks to get it in the mail after you applied for one.
You definitely need a visa to study in Jordan for the year. The best way to do that is to go to the website of the Jordanian Consulate in your area. There are three Jordanian consulates in the US: SF California, Illinois, and Michigan. Once you are at the website of the closet consulate, you will find links to help you with the visa application process, which will take a few months and require quite a bit of paperwork, so don't delay! You will probably also need an official copy of your birth cert. (which takes a few months to order if you don't have a copy on hand) and your acceptance letter from the University in Jordan. Its very do-able, but does take a lot of time. Good luck with your studies and I hope this helps!
OK .. first ignore the baton twirler. She's definitely wrong! Even countries that allow tourism without a visa require one for study.
You can obtain the visa application here:
