Phd supervisor?

Question:Hi. I am applying a phd study in one of UK university. I received positive feedback from one supervisor. What do you think of getting a supervisor that is near to retirement age (65). Pls give opinion. Thanks

Answers:
I don't think that is necessarily a problem. If the professor wants to take you on then he/she realizes the commitment is for a number of years. Also, institutions typically have procedures for dealing with situations like this in a pretty smooth way. You'd probably also be getting the advantage of studying with a senior scholar and someone who might have fewer other demands on his/her time than someone in early or mid-career.

Good luck.
It sounds good ...all that matters is your study...an older supervisor has much more experience than a young one...Good luck!
