How to land a teaching job teaching calculus in high school?

Question:I have had a frustrating 2.5 years experience finding a job in a stable school
district. I have an interview on Monday in a nice district to teach calculus. I
have no experience teaching calculus but really want this job. I am about to quit
teaching if I don't get it. Please give me advice to land this job.

Answers:
In many schools, upper-level classes (in any department) are assigned based on seniority.

I would conjecture that a good approach is to interview for a job in teaching math--with some time and experience, you WILL teach calculus. (But you might start with "Math Fundamentals," "Math for Daily Living," Algebra I to 11th graders, etc.)
it sounds as if teaching is not for you.

Good luck to you, but those kids need a teacher who knows what he is doing, as do the kids you left in the "unstable" districts.

they are just kids, they need committed and quality teachers. Your assumptions are showing.
