Same teacher?

Question:I will be retaking a class with the same teacher again, the teacher was really cool when I first took the class with him. Unfortunately, I was looking for a higher grade than I got. So, the same teacher is lecturing the class again. I am afraid of taking his class eventhough he was one of the best teachers I had. My fear of taking his class is I am afraid he might frown upon me, or look at me as an idiot. Do you think my fear is justified?

Answers:
Your fear is justified! I'd be afraid too. However, you shouldn't have shame for taking the class again. It's awesome you're willing to re-do it in order to get a better grade! Power to you!

My suggestion, is that you talk to the teacher. Tell him that you wanted to take the class again in order to do better and perhaps learn something new. Ask for any suggestions on how to do better on their tests and assignments. If he's really cool, he should be more than happy to help you!
Talk to other students who did well in the class too! Ask what they did in particular that helped them do so well.
I don't think it's justified. A good teacher (which you say he is) will see you trying harder (which you should) and will appreciate your efforts to better yourself. Either way, if he's one of the best teachers you've ever had, your respect for him should outweigh your fear of him. You could even start the year off by telling him how much you appreciated his class before, and that you plan on working harder and taking this second chance far more seriously. He'll appreciate your candor.
No shame at all. It is a little embarassing but it is no big deal. Odds are the teacher will be the only one who knows u are taking the class over and i'm sure it won't be the first time or last that someone had to take the class again for one reason or another. I had to take a class a few times myself. I suck at math. However, I changed professors because I felt that my first professor's teaching style was not meeting my needs. I did so much better the second time around.
It sounds as though you are retaking this class because you want to better your grade, not because you failed the class. If the teacher is a good teacher, and you say he is, he isn't going to look down on you. If anything, he will respect you for wanting to get more out of the course and improve your standing. Talk to him before the class begins and explain why you are retaking the class, and ask what you can do to improve your grades. Good on you!
I wouldn't sweat it. Teachers know that students all learn at a different rate.

Once I took a class and just wasn't getting it. I conferenced with the teacher and he realized I was trying my best; he worked with me.

Let him know that he is one of the best teachers you ever had; let him know you are willing to do what it takes to do better and your relationship will be fine. Don't be afraid to talk to him; he is human just like you are.. :-)

I admire you for being concerned about it. It shows your character!
