Question:as a young lady teacher i feel its somtimes difficult to maintain discipline in school without giving punishment to some disturbing girls.i make them 'standup' outside the class.i do same for elder girls also.
am i wrong?

Answers:
I would hope that you are treating boys and girls the same?
are you prejudice or is there behavior distracting and harmful to the other children? my daughter also sends them outside the room to stand so if it works keep it up
no. discipline is a teacher's friend. if students don't behave you need to do what you need to do.
It depends on:
1. How young the younger girls are;
2. What, exactly, you are punishing them for; and
3. How long they have to stand out there.

I suggest you speak with some more experienced teachers about how to manage (as opposed to control) your classroom and students in a way that encourages them to better behavior. Also, be sure that you are clear about the difference between age-appropriate exuberance (which may need some firm but kind modification) and bad behavior.
Be very careful. In some school districts, that could be considered corporal punishment and such action might be banned. Check with your mentor or department chair if that is allowed.
You have to have control-for sure-but keep a personal journal to record what prompted you to give the punishment for your own protection from any angry parents. Also see if a pattern develops-who is the instigator for most disruptions? Brain storm strategies to prevent the problems from occurring. Find a way to engage the trouble makers in the learning process somehow. If the punishment is not working ask the more experienced teachers there for their suggestions.
