Teaching degree?

Question:i was wondering if someone had a bachlors degree in chemistry and wanted to be a teacher could they go for there masters in teaching? oh yeah in new york state.

Answers:
I had my bachelor's in English and then did my master's in teaching. You should be fine. Check out the board of education's website in New York.
You need to first get your certification in teaching before you can get your masters. (At least, that's the way it works here in Wisconsin--you need an education background in teaching first I believe.) Typically, it's best to get the certificate and then get hired as a teacher and work your way towards a master's degree. (Master's degree requires a higher pay right away and typically they don't like hiring people that have no experience but would have to be paid higher right away.)
