I want to teach here in California...I was a teacher (elementary) back in the Phils., I need to pass the CBES

Question:I want to teach here in California...I was a teacher (elementary) back in the Phils., I need to pass the CBEST (California Basic Elementary Skilled Test) ...I didn't pass, twice... Should I start as a Teacher Assistant while reviewing the CBEST? will any school hire me?

Answers:
You can be an assistant without the CBEST. You won't be able to sub for any classes, but it will at least get you in the door.

I would look into private schools, some of them even have study groups to help you with the CBEST.

Good luck.
No my friend. In order to even substitute, you have to have taken the CBEST. In order to get a contract, you need to have taken and passed the CBEST, CSET and the RICA. Good luck.
BTW, the CBEST isn't even anywhere near as difficult as the CSET and RICA is sorta in the middle.
