all the previous answers have some truth to them but also there is a either hap palmer or other record that headstart teachers used to use to teach the children to wash their hands to and practice the motions in class till they were learned and then take them to the bathroom and practice the same there with the soap(I think that is where we sung "happy birthday" to show how long they should wash) so check with the local headstart program or as a school nurse to come and try what someone else suggested
good luck
I've just heard of having them sing their ABCs while washing them.
The best demonstration I saw was when a school nurse took a class and had them wash their hands as best they knew how. Then she sprayed Wool-lite on their hands and held up a black light. Every white area was an area they missed, an area full of germs. They were so shocked and appalled that they listened intently on how to do it right! Contact a school/community center nurse.
Bribery!
Say, "If everyone does not wash their hands after or and gets my (..) all sticky and greasey no one in the class will get a treat. So be sure you remind your buddies to wash their hands.
Then show them how you can see where all the little nasty hands have been with their finger prints and sticky stuff. Use some powder if you need to and say you can tell who's finger prints they are too.
I get mine to sing 'Happy Birthday' with me when I am washing their hands. I get them all soapyand show them to wash in between the fingers and around the fingernails. By the time the song is done, they are clean!
