According to TEACH online I have "officially" met ALL of the requirements except 1.
The work experience section still says "deficient". I sent letters of proof of work experience. Does this need to be reviewed in a more specific manner and will later be checked off? I am freaking out because I am in a time crunch with my other cert. expiring soon.

The best thing you could have done is ensure you mailed early and get a "return receipt" from the office you submitted your work.
Now, having said that, all is not lost. Follow up to find out where your documentation is. Worst case scenario barring that you are completely denied is that you may have to miss a term/semester, etc.
Does NYS mean New York System? I do not have any experience in this process, but you may want to clarify your terms.

Your provisional certificate will expire on 8/31. Contact the NYS department of education. If you have a teaching position, I would think the local board would wait until you update your certification knowing it is in the process.
