The main purpose of homework is to keep you from forgetting what you learned at school. I wouldn't consider homework overtime. You want to be able to compete with others so it's best to practice and stay on top of the game.

Students can't possibly get all the practice they need in class, so they need to continue later. I would start on spelling, run-on sentences, and capitalization rules.
