I don't think it's appropriate. Don't get me wrong, there have DEFINITELY been times when I've wanted to do the same, but that's a line that shouldn't be crossed. If I were you, I'd set up a meeting with the teacher to discuss the incident. Document it for yourself should this ever occur again. Chances are it won't. Get her side of it, and expect an apology. Don't be rude about it, but DO make it clear that you don't find it to be an acceptable practice. Should you have more problems with her in the future, speak to the principal.
No, it is never OK to yank a child. I will however, pick a child up and physically move him if they refuse to move. I would discuss this with the teacher first or call and ask for a conference with both the teacher and the principal.
well, really a teacher shouldn't even lay a finger on a student...but if it was a small tug to get his/her attention..i dont think its serious BUT if the teacher really pulled/yanked him up i think that you should first talk to the teacher and if your son/daughter was hurt , take it up with the principal.
How do you know the teacher "grabbed" and "yanked" him? You are presuming his version of events are correct. I would have a discussion with the teacher about it and ask her what happened Friday with him and ask how she handled it. Then you can take her story and his story and probably find the accurate version somewhere in the middle. By the way, how did you find out he was talking? From him or her? maybe he was doing more than talking?
After doing that, then decide what you should do.
this depends. is his talking a regular thing?
could it be this was the only way to get thru to the kid?
in general violence is not acceptable,l but SOME kids only understand violence.
