What are prime areas to teach ESL to the Hispanic community and why is it important?

Question:

Answers:
Any place with a big immigrant community, it can be a big town like Houston, Dallas, LA, Phoenix or maybe a rural area with farm workers.

It is important to help them to integrate in their new community. They can get better jobs and be able to communicate with the rest of the people.
Texas areas. Houston or Dallas.
Prime areas: anywhere there is a high population of Latino students (such as mentioned in the first post).

(FYI: "Hispanic" refers to peoples from Spain, Latino/Latina refers to people from Central and South America)

Why is it important: Many of the Latino students in ESL classes are U.S. born. They do not have a good foundation of language in their home language or in English and are thus typically at a disadvantage from the time the first step foot into a classroom. Latino students who have had instruction in their home countries and then move here, often spend less than 2 years in ESL classes, whereas the former often spend upwards of 3 years. Another reason? Research shows that immigrants who learn English typically earn more than their non-English speaking counter parts. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...
