Elem Teacher or Child Psychologist?

Question:I'm a high school senior (smart, high GPA, Nat Honor Society).. starting to apply to colleges .. thinking about my majors . I always knew I wanted to work with kids. Ive been leaning towards being a teacher but I'm not sure. I was also thinking maybe a child psychologist but is it hard to be sucessful with that career? I need some guidance. I would appreciate any sincere advice!

Answers:
How about being a school psychologist? You will not be "teaching" per se, but you will be involved with students in a school building while also enjoying the psychological aspect of your job.

You will work with various kids in (typically) multiple schools, administer psychological testing, attend special education meetings, observe students in the classroom, work with staff, teachers, and parents.
Even as a HS student you should be able to make some school visits. You might go and spend a few days with a teacher or psychologist to see if it's something that would fit you. You could also volunteer to tutor kids to see if this is something you might be good at; in essence to be a teacher. Check with your school Guidance Counselor and see if she can help you set some visits up.
