Like someone said it will be different all over the place. Your best bet is to ask one of the teachers you are putting the binders together for. But in my school here are all the different areas we teach/need to plan for:
*phonics
*reading
*writing
*independent language arts activities
*small group language arts instruction (differentiated instruction for 2-4 different groups of kids daily)
*Literacy centers (4-8 centers, activites change every 1-3 weeks)
*science
*social studies
*character education
*math
Depends on the school and school district.
Ask to see the grade level curriculums for the district you are making the binders for. The teachers should be happy to help you. I know I would be! Thanks!
I don't know for sure about other places, but in NSW all grades K-6 are taught the 6 Key Learning Areas which are: English, Maths, Science and Technology, HSIE, PDHPE and Creative Arts. Many schools now also begin teaching languages at an early age. However, each teacher/ school organises the program differently and it is quite common now to use integrated units of work that cover more than one KLA. In addition, many Private, Christian and Catholic schools will have religion lessons in addition to the others.
