An Ornamental/Environmental Horticulture degree or some aspect close to it like if you want to become a landscape architect then you take those classes. Personally I found a dead-end in the horticulture field. I started going to school again and started taking plant identification classes because of my love of growing plants and ended up earning an Ornamental Horticulture AS degree. From there I transferred to the local University that didn't have that degree offered so I created my own using those OH classes as my lower division. Anyway, upon graduation I found very few job opportunities in that field. About the only thing available was working in a nursery and upon doing that for my educational work experience I found it unchallenging, physical work, and low pay. But, I was taking the plant classes more because I really like the subject not necessarily to have a career in that field. I work in the Education field now and really like it alot.
