I am in the exact same situation. My boyfriend is from serbia, and i am learning his language as he means very much to me, and i would love to communicate with him in serbian, as i would with his family.
What has been working very well for me is listening to my boyfriend and his family speak serbian, listening to serbian music, and reading. Also, find someone who can speak serbian very well and practice the language with them. (for me, that is my boyfriend.)
