Discipline your own children and teach them to respect their teachers and other elders even when they don't agree with or particularly like the person. Also help them learn to discuss disagreements instead of emotionally/mentally shutting down or, worse, pulling a gun.
Pay teachers more to deal with the brats that don't come to school mentally or physically prepared and to deal with the parents who think their children can do no wrong.
Teachers are people too. They make mistakes and they know it, but going berserk doesn't help. Parents have to rationally discuss problems and be willing to help teachers solve problems. Pointing a finger and saying, "What are YOU going to do" doesn't help. The correct question is, "What are WE going to do?"
I'd suggest a pay raise, for starters. I grew up with two teachers for parents, and the pay is abysmal; it's one reason (but not the only one) that I chose NOT to teach. They had to watch every penny with two kids and a modest mortgage. The other thing is to fund the schools properly; keep the buildings clean, safe, and provide ENOUGH supplies for all the kids. I can't count the number of times my parents paid for something for one of their students out of their own pockets, let alone money for any sort of special project, educational displays, and a zillion other things.
Just tell them how you feel. That's all I need to hear. Or a short note to thank them. I have saved every one of them from students. When things get tough, I re-read them for strength!!
Thanks for thinking of your teachers!!
All I would like is a "thank you" every now and then.
Scrap the national curriculum and let them teach what they feel is relevant.
Scrap testing.
It would result in a lifting of a burden on so many teachers!
If the teachers taught all the kids instead of just the quiet ones, they'd be appreciated more.
Ask them out
As a parent, teach your child to show respect in the classroom, always do your best, say please and thank you and tell them occasionally tha you think they're great!
