Why would ANY parent tell their child they don't have to listen to their teacher?

Question:I know there are bad teachers out there that curse at, etc. their students and I know that children need to learn independence and how to make their own decisions, but I am mystified as to any parent that would send their child to school and tell them that they don't have to follow the authority of the teacher (especially without having even met the teacher or knowing their teaching style).

Answers:
Because parents think their little darlings are to precious to have any authority upon their little delicate selves.

They might have a complex for life it a teacher tells them to sit down. Oops, poor baby.
Because while most parents are wonderful there are LOON-BIRD parents about there- that mean well- but, well just don't get it. There will always, always, always be CRAZY CRAZY parents and they make the teachers even crazier!!!

Seriously, I am not sure what provoked your question and I am unsure about how seriously you want an answer- but I really do think that most parents want what is best for their kids. A lot of times, the parents just seem to "lose their way" when guiding the children. It takes a real good teacher to help both the child and the parent back to the path of a positive educational experience. Does that make sense?
I have had kids tell me that is what their parents said, but after meeting the parent(s) there was clearly a "misunderstanding" on the part of the student. I think a lot of kids pick up on the negative feelings of their parents, based on the parents' own experience, although the parents don't intend for that to happen.

I did witness one parent direct their child to beat up another student - in front of our principal.
Some people are just ignorant and they're teaching their children to be the exact same way! I've dealt with some parents and students like that and it's very frustrating. Some people are setting their kids up to be failures, probably like they are!
