You should apply to the Department of Defense Dependents' Schools system which has schools at U.S. military bases all over the world. When my husband was in the Air Force and we were stationed in England, I worked at the high school on base. It was a good experience, and I highly recommend it. You won't get rich, but they do pay a decent salary, plus you will have the extra advantage of being able to shop on base, which will save you a lot of money. It has been a while since I was in the DOD system and there have been numerous base closures, but I believe most of those were stateside and there should be plenty of opportunities at overseas facilities.
I have been to China, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia. Basically all you need for a teaching job is a university degree in any subject. You can do a search online, or you can look for a job when you get here. Japan and Korea are more difficult because you are paying higher living expenses while looking for a job.
There are many jobs; it's easy to find a job. Keeping it is a different matter. There is no teacher's union, and foreigners are often treated like second class citizens. The biggest problem is the language barrier-most young people speak english, but the parents do not. This causes major headaches when trying to work out issues with the students. It is easy for them to blame the foreigner for their child's lack of ambition (laziness). And there are planeloads of native English speakers arriving everyday; they can replace you like a light bulb.
That being said, there are thousands of westerners happily teaching in Asian schools.

There are a number of opportunities for Ex Patriate teachers in the Gulf States. Many pay very well, are pleasant teaching environments, and ideal for natural speakers of English.
Look around for advertisements, there are normally a great many vacancies, in many subject areas.
Good luck, and enjoy your travels :)
