should a girl of clas-xii (even 20-21 old)
be punished like standing in front of the class? it is a regular practice in some school.
If it's a regular practice, then I wouldn't want to teach there and I wouldn't want my daughters to attend that school.
If a student is misbehaving, then you are either rewarding them by giving them the attention they seek, or you are embarrassing them. Either way, you've planted the seeds of misbehavior in the future.
It's similar to writing sentences. I'd never assign that as a punishment, because it teaches students that writing is a negative experience, and not something to enjoy.
Before you can discipline a student, you need to find out what motivates them. Connect with them. It's hard, but it will pay off with students who are working WITH you, and not against you.
No, I don't think so. This would not be a common practice in schools here in Canada. Our average age of grade 12 student would be 17 or 18, and very few of them misbehave. They are usually quite sensible because they realize they are in their last year of school. This is not to say they don't ever talk in class or fail to do their homework because sometimes they do. If a student was extremely rude, or disruptive, she would be asked to leave the class, be sent to the principal, or in an extreme case, be suspended from school for 1 to 3 days.
In the United States this is considered corporal punishment and a teacher would be fired for it.
I think,it's a stupid punishment and also a 20-21 year-old student won't accept to do it,because they're not kids!
