Pass around a roll of toilet paper. The only thing you tell them is to take however much they will need. For each square they tear off they need to say one thing about themselves.
One idea is to make a card (index card..) for each person, and make pairs or groups of them that go together (ie- salt, pepper, socks, shoes, peanut butter, jelly,..) and randomly distribute them to the individuals at the class/meeting. Have them find their partner/group, talk a little, and introduce each other to the group.
I like smartee's answer, but to elaborate on it, I would pin the cards to their backs and then they are to go around and ask each person a yes or no question (to figure out what item/person they have on their back) once everyone has spoken to each other then each person is given a chance stand up say what item/person they are.

Play "two truths and a lie."
Have your students sit in a circle. Then, tell each student they must create 3 statements about themselves: 2 of the statements must be true and 1 must be a lie. Then, the rest of the class has to guess what they think "the lie" is. It is a fun icebreaker because students get really into crafting their "lie" that it is hard to tell what is the truth! It gets everyone talking and laughing, which is nice.
For example:
1) I have 4 siblings
2) I love the SF giants
3) I have been skydiving before
In my case, #2 would be the "lie" because I love the Oakland A's...
