Say true or false. if false, why?

Question:1) a boy is throwing two stones, one vertically up and the other vertically down with the same speed. the second stone experiences greater acceleration.

2)in order to hit a target, a man should point his rifle in the same direction as the target.

(no jokes please, really urgent)

Answers:
The first, for it has more time for maximum acceleration

for the second, you always have to lead the target, taking into consideration bullet trajectory and drift
1. True, I think, because gravity will help.

2. Unclear about exactly what this means - it's a little tricky.
1 is false because it says right in the question that they are moving at the same speed, so the 2nd stone would not experience greater acceleration it would be the same as the first.
2 I would say is true
true and true
1. Yes, the one going down is accelerating at 9.81 m/s^2 whereas the one going up is decelerating at 9.81 m/s^2 due to the force of gravity.

2. If it's from a distance he should aim slightly higher than the target because he must take into account the effect of gravity. Also wind could be a factor as well.
1True: At the time he throws them they are traveling at the same speed, but the one going up will decelerate & the one going down (if it can go far enough down) could accelerate in speed.

2: There could be a play on words here. You would aim at the target or in the direction of a target. If the target was moving
North you wouldn't aim North unless the target was moving away from you to the North.
i reckon they are both true...though i don't completly understand the 2nd question
Both are true
1) True
2) False because he should aim a bit higher or lower, yo!
1) i don't know, i was never good at physics.
2) this is common sense: point the rifel at the target, aiming the same direction as the target would mean the man would have his back to the target. Do you know what I mean? if the target is facing west the man must be facing the opposite direction, east, in order to hit it.
1) false everything on earth experiences the same acceleration due to gravity, roughly 9.8m/second squared, so if they are thrown with the same speed, they will have the same acceleration.

2) false because by the time the bullet gets to the target, it will have dropped lower to the ground.
1) 2nd stone accelerate because of gravitational pull.
2) Assuming your target is moving at a given direction you should point the gun just in front of the target. Is you point it on the same direction the bullet will just fly parallel the moving object.
both true, the first one, he throws them with the same speed but the second stone would obviously experience greater acceleration as it is travelling downward.
Actually I think the question goes as gravity acts on both stone a stone shot forward and level will hit the ground at the same time a stone dropped at the exact time.

Both a bullet dropped and one fired are going to hit the ground at the same time. If it takes 1 seconds for a bullet to hit the ground when dropped from 5 feet then with a rifle round like a 5.56mm traveling at 3200 feet per second would travel 3200 feet before hitting the ground.

That is why on most ammo boxes it gives you a chart telling you the fall rates for certain weights and velocities. So if you are aiming a a target that is far away say 150 feet you would raise the muzzle a little above target to account for the arched trajectory.

P.S. It is kind of like a movie when you see archers shooting arrows they aim high for the arch, a bullet does not have the same extreme drop but it still experiences the force of gravity acting on it.
