It sounds like a female cardinal to me. Cardinals are one of the few birds with an orange or reddish beak. The males are bright red, and the females are reddish-brown with yellowish-brown bellies. They are also very common in Michigan, and very common in areas around houses.
If you are concerned about the bird (birds can be injured or killed by flying into windows) or the window, and you want to stop this, I've included a link. Cardinals can be territorial, and often attack their reflection that they see in the glass, although this is usually more of a problem with males and in the breeding season. It is likely that your bird is just trying to fly in or through the window, although if it's repeated it could be seeing its reflection. Either way the link below will help.
if the rest of it is black it might be a red-winged black bird. i live in michigan too and i see those a lot.
Could be an annoying mockingbird.
bebe gun!
The little bird flies into your window every morning because what he sees is the reflextion of the tree he just flew out of. He is most likely to belong to the Passeridae family of birds which encludes the Sparrows. Not being familar with the birds in Mich. I can't tell you exactly what sort of sparrow he is.
He's going to be really brain dead if you don't put a sticker on the window to show it is not open space.
