I believe that words can be far more effective in the long term. Unfortunately we now live in a world that wants an immediate response. People seem to rush in without pausing to think through the consequences and, as a result, we find situations escalating that could have been diffused.
I'd like to see creative writing becoming a vital part of education once more. It would encourage students to broaden their vocabularies, learn to use grammar, spell and devlop their ideas beyond the 5 or 6 lines of abbreviations that make up a standard text communication!

It depends what you want to achieve. You'd have an awful time cutting a swathe through the jungle with a biro, but if you just want to sign a couple of cheques a sword's much less helpful. Won't fit in a handbag either.
Depends what you are keeping in the pen and how long it takes to mow the sward.
