yes, because you see him lifeless, and then the repor comes back on the bodies, and you see the french agent smile when she hears that he is not dead. and he comes back to life and swims away up the Hudson, which is so toxic it would have killed most folks

It was Bourne, and yes Robert Ludlum is deceased, there were three books in his Bourne series, The Bourne Identity, Supremacy, and Ultimatium.
However, Eric Van Lustbader continued with the Bourne character in the books, The Bourne Legacy (2004) and The Bourne Betrayal (2007).
There could possibly be two more movies, because there are two more books out there with the Bourne character. Matt Damon told Jay Leno (I believe) that they would test the waters with the third Bourne movie to see if they wanted to do another. I think there is a good chance we might get one.
