My guess is she sat on a tuffet because all the real chairs were taken. I've sat on one before but I was a little scared of seeing a spider, so I try to stay away from them.

makes for better lyrical flow than saying little miss muffet sat on a stool eating cottage cheese. A spider dropped by, scared the hell out of the girl, and she hauled *** down the road.
I love to sit on a tuffet! It's a tuft or patch of grass. A tuffet is the best place for a picnic! You can enjoy curds and whey or wine and cheese, or beer and pizza, or cookies and milk.
I eat curds and whey often. It's called cottage cheese! The milk used to make cottage cheese curdles because of an enzyme called rennin. The part that doesn't curdle is called whey. Two different proteins in the milk react differently to the enzyme. So one curdles and the other doesn't. Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet because she knew it was important to relax while eating lunch. She was enjoying nature's scenery, while leisurely eating her healthy lunch, until that spider came along, sat down beside her, and she jumped up,spilled the cottage cheese, and ran inside to get a pbj.
No I haven't
Well, according to accounts in the tabloid press, she sat on said tuffet "to eat her curds and whey". But, as the report further stated, a certain knew Little Boy Blue was in the neighborhood and the Muffet girl allegedly had a secret assignation with him. Photos, on an inside page.
In my younger years, while on a vacation in the country side of England I had the opportunity to sit on a tuffet. Can't say that it was the high point of my vacation.....but I am glad that I decided to try the experience.
As for the curds & whey part, I was about to sample some of this delicousy, when a strange furry little eight legged fellow steered me away from it. He suggested that I try a piece of the mushroom and follow the path an aggitated little rabbit had made right down this hole in the side of the tuffet.
But "that" is a different story all together.
