When did the August Bank Holiday move from the begining of August to the end?

Question:

Answers:
In England and Wales, the August Bank Holiday was specified in the Bank Holidays Act 1871 to be the first Monday in August. Exactly 100 years later, in 1971, it was moved to the last Monday in August. It's now referred to as Summer Bank Holiday.

In Scotland and in the Republic of Ireland, the Summer Bank Holiday is still set for the first Monday in August.
I don't know of the August Bank Holiday (not U.S.?)... but here we have our Labor Day holiday in early September for a last hurrah before the kids go back to school. Prob'ly same reason for you?

In Scotland, too, it's still at the beginning
I don't know, somtime last century. All I know is that we in England have the least amount in EU. We don't even get one for St George's day.every other country has it's 'national' or patron saint's day.
