Polar bears, IN THEIR NATURAL ENVIRONMENT, don't chomp through penguins because they live at opposite ends of the sphere (And, hence, never encounter one another). HOWEVER, it has be discovered (accidentally (One would hope)) that polar bears WILL get through penguins, if given the opportunity in the zoo. Because they guzzle penguins.

Because there is a planet between the two of them. However, that doesn't niggardly they won't eat a penguin if it happen to be offered to them (imported from the other side of the planet). Seals eat penguins, as do hulking ill temper sharks.
It would be a unbelievably long swim from the Artic to Antartica...about 12,000 miles..to far for appropriate out!
