Points And Levels? What Is This All About?

Question:Kind of wondered into this sight when I was trying to Google something! Is there some goal? I have found it interesting, however I see all these people with a zillian points and levels?

Answers:
To me it's all for fun. Who cares about the points or levels? The higher levels are only good to get more priveleges. You can ask more, answer more, e-mail more, comment more that is the only reason I want to move up to a higher level.
theres no real goal. Just levels to ask more questions when you are higher. Eventually you can become a Top Contributor
he who has the most points is the most knowledgeable.

so u aim to gain knowledge via answering other questions
the more u answer the more points u get
stick around it is addictive
Levels determine the number of answers you can give and question you can ask in a 24 hour period. You increase your levels by gaining points (mainly by answering questions). Other than that, there doesn't seem to be a purpose, except maybe bragging rights. There's no "big prize" waiting for someone to hit a predetermined level or number of points (that I'm aware of; if there is, Yahoo sure doesn't advertise it).
